Laufendes Projekt zu Frau-Leben-Freiheit / Ongoing project on Woman-Life-Freedom

Das fortlaufende Fotoprojekt baraye – dafür. ist inspiriert von dem Protestsong Baraye des iranischen Sängers Shervin Hajipour, der aus Tweets eine Hymne für die Woman-Life-Freedom-Bewegung im Iran schuf. Sie entstand 2022 nach dem Tod von Jina Mahsa Amini, die wegen angeblichen Verstoßes gegen die obligatorischen Kleidungsvorschriften von der Sittenpolizei festgenommen und gefoltert wurde und in Polizeigewahrsam starb.

Das Projekt zeigt Porträts von Frauen mit iranischen Wurzeln, die in Deutschland aufgewachsen sind und ihre Stimme für die Menschen im Iran erheben. Jede Protagonistin steht stellvertretend für eines oder mehrere Themen aus dem Song. Als Halbiranerin reflektiert die Fotografin über persönliche Freiheit und macht sichtbar, wie viel von dem, was hier alltäglich ist, im Iran unerreichbar bleibt und wofür die Menschen dort ihr Leben riskieren.

Ausstellung:

Ein erster Zwischenstand von baraye - dafür. wird von 29. Mai bis zum 1. Juni 2025 in der Galerie f3 in Berlin zu sehen sein (Öffnungszeiten 13-19:00). Die Vernissage findet am 28. Mai um 19:00 statt (Eintritt kostenlos).

The ongoing photo project baraye – dafür. (= for/because of) is inspired by the protest song Baraye by Iranian singer Shervin Hajipour, who created an anthem for the Woman-Life-Freedom movement in Iran from tweets. It emerged in 2022 after the death of Jina Mahsa Amini, who was arrested and tortured by the morality police for allegedly violating mandatory dress codes and died in police custody.

The project features portraits of women with Iranian roots who grew up in Germany and raise their voices for the people in Iran. Each protagonist represents one or more themes from the song. As a half-Iranian, the photographer reflects on personal freedom and highlights how much of what is considered normal and everyday here is unattainable in Iran and what people there risk their lives for.

Exhibition:

A first interim status of baraye - dafür. will be on display from May 29 to June 1, 2025, at Galerie f3 in Berlin (opening hours 1 PM to 7 PM). The opening will take place on May 28 at 7 PM (entry is free).
